[ONLINE] The Discovery of a Masterpiece

Wednesday, September 85:00—6:00 PMZoom

Mallory Mortillaro, Curator of Collections at the Hartley Dodge Foundation, was routinely cataloging artwork when she uncovered a masterpiece that had been lost to the art world since the 1930s. After a year of research, the piece was authenticated as a work by the 19th-century French sculptor Auguste Rodin. Ms. Mortillaro will share the story of how a simple art cataloging project evolved into a search for a mysterious piece’s provenance, and became one of the biggest art finds in recent history.

This program is sponsored by the Chilmark, Vineyard Haven, West Tisbury, and Edgartown libraries.
