[ONLINE] Movie in Focus: Film Discussion Group (Barbara)

Monday, December 2011:00 AM—12:00 PMZoom

Until the day comes when we can enjoy films together again on the library’s big screen, we’re hosting a monthly virtual film group. View our movie of the month (free on Kanopy or Hoopla) and we’ll meet to discuss it via Zoom. Bring your impressions and opinions. Programs coordinator Virginia Munro will choose the films and facilitate the group.

This month’s film is Barbara (Germany, 2012), set in pre-unification East Germany. Director Christian Petzold creates a tense atmosphere that combines the edginess of a political thriller with the suspense of a Hitchcock film. A skillful performance by the talented Nina Hoss as the titular Barbara makes her story all too believable. The film is available to stream for free on Kanopy with your library card.

The Zoom link for this program will open half an hour before the program's start time, so come in a little early, set up your devices, get comfortable, and turn your mic and video off until you are invited to turn them on again. This program will not be recorded.

Registration for this event has now closed.
