Contemporary French Cinema Night: "Petite Maman" (2021)

Thursday, April 116:00—8:00 PMEdgartown Free Public LibraryEdgartown Free Public Library26 West Tisbury Road, Edgartown, MA, 02539

In April, join us at the library for an enchanting taste of contemporary French cinema. These three magical films explore themes of memory, the complexities of family bonds, and the profound connections between generations. Dessert and light refreshments will be served.

In this small gem of a film, from French writer and director Céline Sciamma, an eight-year-old girl named Nelly has just lost her grandmother and is helping her parents with the difficult process of clearing out her mother’s childhood home. While exploring in the nearby woods, she meets another girl her own age who is building a treehouse. The girls’ time together opens up a magical connection like nothing Nelly has experienced before.

This program is generously funded by the Friends of the Edgartown Free Public Library.
