Ruben (Riz Ahmed) is the drummer in a punk-metal duo with his girlfriend Lou (Olivia Cooke). When Ruben begins to intermittently lose his hearing, his musical life seems over. At Lou’s insistence, he reluctantly enters a retreat for the deaf, and struggles with giving up his true passion. Director and co-writer Darius Marder lays forth important questions about identity and the barricades ableism has created.
