Join us for a fascinating presentation on the history of bossa nova and Brazilian jazz, in this introduction to the music that swept the world. Using film and audio clips, jazz journalist and historian Allen Morrison tells the story of Brazilian popular music from its beginnings, from choro and samba music to the birth of bossa nova. Along the way, he will cover the phenomenal success of “The Girl From Ipanema” and the genre’s greatest stars, including Antônio Carlos Jobim and João Gilberto. There will be time at the end for a Q&A.
